Regular visitors and potential investors in Marbella will be thrilled to hear that after a period of uncertainty, the much anticipated Bajadilla port project is now firmly back on track.
Angeles Munoz (Mayoress of Marbella) has confirmed that the Arab prince, Sheik Abdullah Bin Nasser Al-Thani is still very much interested in the project and that it is due to become a reality when construction commences in 2014.
It appears that the stumbling block – the council’s refusal to grant the prince permission to build a hotel in the port - is no longer a deal breaker, and the Sheik has decided to progress with the project without further delay. Steps have already been taken to move the 400 million euro project forward, including the formation of a new port management team and a plan to repay previous outstanding debts.
This is great news for Marbella, as it can only enhance the town’s glamourous reputation by making it a major luxury cruise destination and creating much needed jobs in the local community.
