According to figures published this month, so far this year Spain has seen the best summer on record welcoming an incredible 6.3 million foreign visitors.
Northern Europeans historically head for warmer climes, so it will come as no surprise that the majority of Spain’s visitors come from the UK and Germany, accounting for around forty per cent of the total and an increase of over five per centre on last year. However, it was a twenty-six per cent increase in Scandinavian visitors that has had the greatest impact on numbers!
Most interesting are the figures for Andalucía – home to Marbella and Puerto Banús – which saw an impressive 817,000 tourists during the first half of this year alone. British tourists made up around thirty per cent of the total, and continue to be the most prevalent group to holiday on the Costa del Sol.
This is fantastic news for Spain, creating a much need shot in the arm for the economy and is also confirmation that it is still one of the most attractive destinations to invest in property.
