Siesta Homes believes Andalucía is the best place to live. We are surrounded by stunning landscape, views of the twinkling Mediterranean Sea and we enjoy an enviable lifestyle. Did you know that Southern Spain basks in more than 325 sunny days a year? You’re actually guaranteed some sun, even in the winter!

Here are 5 reasons why Andalucía is an incredible place to be in the winter months.

Reason 1: The weather is perfect for an outdoor adventure

The winter is arguably the perfect time to take up some adventure sports or just be outside more often. We don’t have the scorching heat of the sun, just plenty of days of mild weather, sunshine and little, if any, rain to dampen the fun.

The national park Sierra de la Nieves is situated in the hills behind Marbella and is perfect for hiking or following a nature trail. The park is actually a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and only 5 per cent of the land has been allocated to building, which means you can enjoy endless rolling hills of Pine and Oak trees and just the sounds of the wind rustling the leaves or the occasional birdsong. Bliss.

It is just a two-hour drive to Sierra Nevada and you can strap on a pair of skis and go flying down a black run. This skiing resort is usually full of snow this time of year, perfect for adults and families alike.

Reason 2: There are cities waiting to be explored

Andalucía boasts many cultural towns and cities, just an hour or two away by car. If you live in the Málaga province, you are in the perfect distance from everything Andalucía has to offer. Take a day trip to Córdoba, a long-weekend in Seville, a road trip to Ronda or a lunch break in Mijas. Whether you are interested in the white famous pueblos or bigger and more cultural cities, Andalucía has numerous options and even Marbella has a stunning old town, perfect for a leisurely lunch.

Reason 3. It’s the perfect time for golf

Andalucía often bakes at over 30 degrees Celsius in July and August. Expect peak prices at the golf courses during the summer, but during the winter you can enjoy quieter courses, sunny but cooler days and better rates. With 70 plus golf courses here in Andalucía you are spoilt for choice.

Reason 4. Explore Andalucía without the crowds

If you have lived here for any length of time, you’ll just know that the pace of life slows down in the winter. The roads are quieter, the attractions more purse-friendly. Take advantage and EXPLORE! We are blessed to have so much to see and do here. Take the opportunity and get out there.

Reason 5. The sunrises and sunsets are to die for

You won’t believe us until you see for yourself. The sunrises and the sunsets during the winter months are breathtaking. Blasts of orange, pink and yellow glow in the sky as if alive, thanks to the crisp, clear air. Every day is a magical event.
